Description
Middle Tennessee, Giles County, cherry sugar table, poplar secondary. Consisting of a plain, square-hinged top that lifts to reveal a storage compartment; paneled sides and paneled front above a single dovetailed drawer with brass pull, and tall ring-turned legs terminating in urn and ball form feet. This lot includes a ledger and business catalog from the original owners. 29 1/4" H x 20" W x 14 3/4" D. Circa 1830. Acquired from a descendant of Samuel Knox Harwell (1864-1944), a founder and partner in the Nashville wholesale dry good firm Neely-Harwell and Co. By oral history, the table descended in his family, likely from the Rev. Stith Meade Harwell of Giles County (1807-1886).

Condition
Overall good condition, older refinish. Top with wood splice repair, old repair to left back hinge, some scattered wood shrinkage to case noted.
