Description
Chinese cloisonne enamel peacock ewer, having a gilt finial in the form of a peacock in full tail feather display, above a baluster form body with a scalloped rim decorated with round reserves filled with peacocks, interspaced with peacock feathers on a crimson ground filled with lotus blossoms, the body flanked by a peacock head spout topped by three gilt plumes on one side and a gilt scrolled handle on the other, the whole rising on a splayed circular foot, the underside having an engraved inscription, 'To Joel Katz -Jing,' together with a wire inlaid wooden stand. This piece is very similar to one that was exhibited at the1982 World's Fair in Knoxville, Tennessee.
