Description
Signed Muhammad Ali Meeting the Beatles Photograph, 1964 W/COA - This photograph depicts an exceptional moment in history when two icons met: The Greatest, and the most famous rock band of all time. Taking place in February 1964, this moment was captured by Beatles photographer Harry Benson on the band's American debut: Introducing the Beatles. John, Paul, George, and Ringo had been in the United States for little more than a week when they stopped in Miami Beach at the 5th Street Gym where they were introduced to Muhammad Ali--then still known as Cassius Clay--as he was training for his fight against Sonny Liston. Ali reportedly joyfully announced to the young rockers "We oughtta do some road shows together--we'll get rich!" In this playful images, the British rockers lie in a row in the center of the ring as Muhammad Ali pumps his chest above them. This professionally framed lot is hand-signed by Muhammad Ali, and measures approximately 26 in x 24 in. All of the items presented in this sale are part of a private family collection of sports memorabilia and rare professional athletics artifacts curated over a collective 80-year period. The lot includes a certificate of authenticity from Global Fundraising Foundation.
