Description
South America, Argentina & Uruguay, Pampas region, ca. 19th century CE. An interesting lengthy dagger or short sword made from the steel blade of a rapier set into a high quality 85% silver handle and a wood and leather sheath with a silver cap. The blade was likely cut down from a longer sword into a self-defense weapon or tool. The wooden cylinder is covered with a leather cover with a silver chape piece with a suspension ring capping the terminal tip. Blade: 16.75" L x 0.6" W (42.5 cm x 1.5 cm) in sheath: 23" L (58.4 cm); silver quality: 85%

Pitting and nicks to blade and age and use expected wear throughout. Indentations and abrasions to silver handle and sheath cap. Wear to leather and stable fissures to wood sheath. Overall good condition.
