Description
CHINESE ANCIENT JADE CIRCLE DRAGON PENDANT. L. 5cm.

LOT 510 TO LOT 551 FROM COLLECTON OF LESHOULAOREN GENERAL CAOKUN.

General Cao Kun (December 12, 1862 – May 15, 1938) was a Chinese warlord and politician, who served the President of the Republic of China from 1923 to 1924, as well as the military leader of the Zhili clique in the Beiyang Army; he also served as a trustee of the Catholic University of Peking. During a war against Zhang Zuolin in October 1924, Cao was betrayed and imprisoned by one of his own officers, General Feng Yuxiang, in the Beijing coup. Feng occupied Beijing and forced Cao to resign. His brother, Cao Rui, committed suicide while he was under house arrest. In 1926, Cao Kun was released from captivity as a goodwill gesture by Feng to Wu Peifu. Cao died in his home at Tianjin in May 1938.

Cao Kun, known as ZhongShan, calling himself "The Old Man of Joy", was the fifth President of the Republic of China. He was a first-rand general in the army of the National Revolutionary Army, and the head of the Zhili faction of the Northern Warlords. Cao Kun loved Chinese painting and was particularly good at painting plum blossoms, rocks, crabs and so on. Cao Kun and Qi Baishi met in about 1920, introduced by his friend Xia Wuyi. He painted several paintings for Cao Kun and engraved many seals, which can be found in the surviving collection, such as "Seal of Cao Kun", "Zhong Shan" and "Gang Jian Dushi Hui Guang", in the surviving art paintings given to Cao Kun by Qi Baishi, he is mostly referred to as "Marshal Zhong Shan".

The "Made of Yanqinglou" porcelain is a special marker for the custom-made porcelain of Cao Kun, president of the Republic of China. The porcelain "Made by Yanqinglou" is very finely painted, with famille rose colors and paints, and a flavor of Qianlong famille rose colors, fully reflecting the technique of porcelain production in the early Republic of China, it is of high artistic value.
