Description
ROMERO BRITTO (B. 1963)
Winds
Print in Colors
9 1/4" x 9 1/4"
Romero Britto is a Brazilian artist whose distinct graphic style blends Pop Art with Cubist-like abstraction. His colorful illustrations and figurines of Disney characters, animals, and figures utilize patches of geometric patterns and texture rendered in a fractured perspective. â€Å¡Ã¢€Å“As an artist, I feel lucky to have been given the gift of creativity so that I may share my vision of a better world, he stated. â€Å¡Ã¢€Å“I will never forget what it was like to be poor and that is why it is so important to me that my work be accessible to all people. Born on October 6, 1963 in Recife, Brazil, Britto is self-taught and credits a trip to Paris in 1983 to his interest in Modern masters like Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse. He has found commercial success through work with brand campaigns, including a commission for Absolut Vodka in 1989 that helped to launch his career. Brittoâ€Å¡Ã¢€Å¡s public installations can be found throughout the United States, Switzerland, and Brazil. He currently lives and works in Miami, FL where he owns the Britto Central Gallery.
