Description
An early 19th document case, containing a hand-written document on vellum dated 1808 recorded at the College of Arms London concerning Sir Isaac Heard Garter Principal King of Arms and George Harrifon Clarenceux Esquire King of Arms, recorded by Ralph Bigland Norroy, Deputy Register, case with stamped leather exterior and papered interior containing two compartments with wax seal compacts; Antique Lap Desk with stone cartouche, missing writing surface and one small compartment divider, lacking key; Russian Tea Caddy with papier mache and illustrated lid; Round lacquered box with painted lid; Inlayed wood box with bear illustration from Australia; Carved non-wood box with incised design including rabbits and deer, with metal hinge; Sizes from 5 x 16 x 9 ½” to ½” tall 3 ½” diameter; Together with a heart-shaped box with leather-interior and silver emblem on lid. Condition
Document in good condition, case with wear and losses; Lap desk also missing upper portion of latch lock and with scuffs and scratches and two large stress cracks at bottom; Russian with loss to illustration and interior finish; Round box with several losses; Carved box lacking hinge pin; Heart box with tarnished silver; Otherwise all in good used aged condition.
