Chinese Song Dynasty Ge yao Porcelain Incense Burner. Potted in shallow vessel form, heavy and deep, close round opening lip, raised with short three elephant legs. All reserved hand painted ornamentations are rendered in light brown underglazed base color which contrast against the Ge design color. Distinctive GE crackled glaze also known as jinsi tiexian which translates to mean gold floss and iron thread which details the look of several lines that appear in the crackled surface. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous, the shape is uniformly proportioned.The underside unglazed, revealed the pale-creme ground revealed and dark greyish brown spotted firing marks and edge-cut foot rim.
