Botany - Cont. paperback. - Rare. - First edition of Presl's Flora of Sicily. Karel Borivoj Presl (1794-1852) was the most important Czech botanist of the 19th century. In 1817 he undertook a study trip to Sicily and collected plants from various parts of the island for his dissertation in medicine, which he completed in 1818 with the work Gramineae Siculae. The present volume is the expanded version of his dissertation, which is hardly still available. - Very faint foxing. Good copy.

Karel Borivoj Presl (1794-1852) war der bedeutendste tschechische Botaniker des 19. Jahrhunderts. 1817 unternahm er eine Studienreise nach Sizilien und sammelte Pflanzen aus verschiedenen Teilen der Insel für seine Dissertation in Medizin, die er 1818 mit dem Werk Gramineae Siculae abschloss. Der vorliegende Band ist die erweiterte Fassung seiner kaum noch erhältlichen Dissertation. - Sehr schwach stockfleckig. Gutes Exemplar.
