Napoleon Marache was a French-born chess expert from the 19th-century. While he was known for his gameplay, he is best remembered for his writings and solving some of chess’s biggest problems – opening plays, strategy, and two-move combinations. These strategy and game-play options were published in his ‘Manual of Chess’ which was first published in 1866 – one of the first American books published on chess and backgammon.
