With Autograph Letter Signed from Trollope laid in vol. 1, a dinner invitation dated 12 September 1854. Mrs. Trollope (mother of Anthony Trollope) lived for 3 years in Cincinnati while her husband ran an unsuccessful retail business. Her opinion of American and the manners of its citizens was not favorable. The illustrations are both satirical and charming. Howes T-357.
Condition
Corners slightly bumped; vol. 1 headband weak, vol. 2 label chipped; joints splitting; light foxing to plates and adjacent text, very good.
