In 1854 Charles Francois Leopold Oudry created an electrochemical workshop in Auteuil for coppering large metal objects. By 1855, Oudry is already known for its vases, statuettes and plaques of cast iron covered with pure copper by electroplating, a process in which the goldsmith Paris Charles Christofle bought the patents as early as 1839.
In 1858-1864 Paris under Napoleon III, Leopold Oudry, as the owner of the Auteuil electro-metallurgical plant, plated with copper Parisian fountains of Venus, Diana, the Four Seasons on Champs-Elysees, and two fountains in the Place de la Concorde, as well as most Parisian gas lanterns designed by him, and Pont au Double.
Oudry exhibited at many Universal Exhibitions and won medals in 1855 at the Universal Exhibition in Paris and 1862 in London.
