Paper Mountains are situated on the border of reality and fiction, blurring the lines between photograph and nature. Each mountain is in fact a printed photograph of a mountain, worked and crumpled to replicate the peaks and shadows of the American West Coast, New Zealand, and Iceland. The photographs that appear at first glance to be of larger mountain ranges are in reality close-ups of mountains in various parts of the world, digitally manipulated to give the impression of being larger rock formations.
