Item Details
Description
Silvertone 1452 - 1967 Fender Jaguar Outlaw. The auction is for ONE guitar - the SILVERTONE guitar. Owned by Jerry Garcia's Lawyer. I've been a huge fan of vintage Danelectro, Silvertone and Sears electric guitars. This guitar had all the features that I like. — First of all, it was from 1967! A great year for guitars. The Summer of Love ya know. Then take a look at the body style - it’s quite similar, almost outlaw-style, to the 1967 Fender Jaguar. The Silvertone has the 24 3/4" to 25" scale, a very balanced offset body so it rests well when strapped on over your shoulder, and and those cheap old lipstick pickups with a tad hot signal. My first Silvertone was the 1448 guitar, with the built-in Amp in the carrying case - this auction does not have the AMP case. This new model 1452, has a micro-tilt set-screw neck angle adjustment. In doing my research on these models, some of them came with mixed maple / poplar bodies and necks - but this looks like a true solid-body. Inside the control cavity, the whole instrument is shielded, and your should not need to rewire the master volume, master tone and other two knobs, as it sounds good when I play it. Silvertone was a brand created and promoted by Sears for its line of consumer electronics and musical instruments from 1916 to 1972. Rights to the Silvertone brand were purchased by South Korean corporation Samick Music in 2001. Silvertone and Sears had a long history, starting with phonographs, and moving into tubes, radios and then instruments. My favorite band - The Silvertones (later The Guess Who) took its name from this line of instruments. (I know…. I know….lame). Silvertone instruments and amplifiers were manufactured by various companies, including Danelectro, Valco, Harmony, Thomas, Kay and Teisco. This model, the 1452, has twin lipstick pickups, but the other models had either one or two. Dano was sold to MCA in 1968, and the Sears/Dano partnership sank soon after. Hook it up to Garageband on your iPad with the iRig, and start jamming and recording some Guess Who and a couple Beatles tunes today. (fyi... the last two pictures are of the Fender so you can see body style comparisons. you do NOT get a fender guitar with this auction). Comes with hard shell case.
