Item Details

Description

A superb set of three German railway kerosene signal lanterns made by Osmeka Osnabruch.

This large, early 20th century lantern has red and clear glass panels with red and white chequer sides and carry handle atop.

These iron lamps are purely decorative but can be easily converted into an electric light.

The lanterns were manufactured by OsnabrÃ¼cker Metallwerke J. Kampschulte & Co (OsMeKa).

Height to top of lantern without carrying handle 46cm (18").

The lantern is heavy and weighs in at 4.5kg (10 lbs)

Measurements:H 52cm (20.5") x W 19cm (7.5") x D 19cm (7.5")

Condition

The Lantern is in good condition with normal rust spots and wear. Both lenses are complete and have no cracks. It needs a good cleaning which I do not do to antiques as I like the dirt on them because to me this is part of its character.
