Depicting scenes of allegorical paintings by Francesco Solimena (1657-1747) Church of St. Paul in Napes, then engraved by Carl Guttenberg (1743-1790) after Jean-Honore Fragonard (1732-1806). 6 x 8 inches (each plate) and 13 x 20 inches (full page).
'Tableaux du Louflin au Palais des Dues Corre à Naples.' Engraved by the engraver of the king, chiseled by Marcret. Not attributed otherwise. 6 x 9 inches (each plate) and 13 x 20 inches (full page).
'Peint par Annibal Carrache au Palais de Capo di Monte à Naples.' Engraved by Jean Claude Richard (1727-1791). 8 x 5.5 inches (bottom print) and 13 x 20 (full page).
Overall good condition. Toning near edges and light foxing throughout, as well as chipping.
From the estate and lifelong collection of William Garrett Hodges (1946-2014). Hodges was a Virginia-based dealer of fine arts, with specialization in prints and rare books, having collected for decades. He supplied and consulted various groups on antiquities throughout his career, including the White House, the Vice President's residence, the FBI, and multiple film and television series.
