known as the father of british ornithology, george edwards published the notable a natural history of uncommon birds (1743-1751) and gleaning of natural history (1758-1764).
printed on a creamy, white chain-lined paper. colors are still exceptional. overall good condition with some toning near edges. print has strong plate marks. measures 9 x 11 inches.
From the estate and lifelong collection of William Garrett Hodges (1946-2014). Hodges was a Virginia-based dealer of fine arts, with specialization in prints and rare books, having collected for decades. He supplied and consulted various groups on antiquities throughout his career, including the White House, the Vice President's residence, the FBI, and multiple film and television series.
