Italian walking stick, belonged to Pope John XXIII
made of rosewood (Dalbergia spp), octagonal shaft with twisted elements, entirely inlaid with mother-of-pearl olive branches. Base copper ferrule.It belonged to Pope John XXIII who made a gift of it in 1953 to Comm. Prof. Piero Mazzoni who accompanied the 'Pope of Goodness' in the last months of his life.Height 91 cm. Total weight 377 g. Item condition grading: **** good.Accompanied by an authentication by Cardinal Francesco Capovilla (Pontelongo, 14 October 1915 - Bergamo, 26 May 2016), former particular secretary of Pope John XXIII from 1958 to 1963.
