A fantastic antique c. 19th century Black Forest wooden carved bear side table, with hidden smoking storage compartments. This beautiful table has three small carved bears sitting on the lids of two compartments. Carved tree trunk and intricate leaf like decoration to the top. Single brass dish set in the center. Bottom of the table is supported by a large standing carved bear with a great facial expression with an opened mouth, showing its teeth in a wide grin, finished with a pair of glass eyes. Bears head can be lifted to reveal another large hidden compartment. Condition Report: Overall, very good, commensurate with age and use condition. Minor imperfections, age weathered surface. Appears to have some old stress cracks running across the top and under the compartments, making the foreground of the top loose.
