DESCRIPTION: A vintage Italian desk set in brass and with a black glass base and including: a pen holder (missing pen) , a calendar, and a figural sculpture motif, depicting a She-wolf figure feeding Romulus and Remus. The image of a she-wolf suckling the twins in their infancy has been a symbol of the city of Rome and the ancient Romans since at least the 3rd century BC. In Roman mythology, Romulus and Remus are twin brothers whose story tells of the events that led to the founding of the city of Rome and the Roman Kingdom by Romulus, following his fratricide of Remus. The calendar includes three separate compartments, one for the day number, a second one to select the month, and a third one to select the day of the week. (In italian).
