DESCRIPTION: (6 Pc) An important antique French Sevres dinner plates set, period of Louis Philippe. Part printed, painted and gilded. From King Louis Philippe´s dinner service at the Chateau de Fontainebleau. The service is often referred to as the "Service Ordinaire de Fontainebleau". The service was ordered in August 1836 and delivered until 1847. An important feature of this service is the ornamental frieze, depicting Greek rosettes and ornamental gilding. The freeze consists of heavy leafy foliage that hides a variety of animals. Marked with 1846 Sevres hallmark, and Chateau de Fontainebleau hallmark on the underside.
