So attractive is this signed Reed & Barton Victorian Perfume castor complete with ruby stained etched bottle. Impressive and so detailed. ThelmBob, our 99 year young resident honey child and southern bell and Logistics Coordinator here at Magnum Auctions, was taken by this gorgeous piece. It tookk her back to the days growing up on her Grannies southern plantation. Her granny was quite well off. ThelmaBob remembers here granny getting ready for church every Sunday and after getting dressed, she would cover herself with the worst smelling old lady perfume you could imagine. Poor granny. She never realized the fragrance she wore so frequently was just swful. No one cared for it. Her fourth husband, Colonel Jeb had given it to her in her 30's. Alas that was almost 60 years prior in 1865. Boy did that perfume not age well. None the less granny was always proud to wear it. She would always put a little behiind each ear. ThelmaBob also remembers her granny spraying a linen handerkerchief her granny had embroidered. She would always pour it generously on the handkerchief and tuck it in her cleavage. Her granny would always say,"Always want your bosom to smell good. It attracts the young colts." Granny would always put the bottle back in a the holder very similar to this Victorian lovely that we are offering in this auction. This gem of a cologne castor measures an astounding 15" tall to the top of the handle.
