Description
The vase is baluster shaped and has a domed lid. Little clouds fill in much of the space around the main designs of peonies. The interior and base have been covered in a turquoise enamel. The brass shows on the mouth rim, foot ring, the lid finial and the lid lip and inner flange.
There is the mark CHINA in red enamel on the base.
MEASUREMENTS
4 7/8” (13.4 cm) tall x 2 ½” (6.4 cm) diameter. Weighs 4.0 oz (115 g)
CONDITION
There is a slight dent on the lid’s flange. There is a chip out of the enamel midway from the foot. There is the typical pitting of the enamel for older cloisonné. A bit of enamel is lost just under the top of the inside of the lid, as well as several spots in the interior. There are no other chips, dents or breaks.
A tiny work of art that compares to the full sized jar. A collection of miniatures would be very easy to store and display.
