Description
A Gothic carved and painted oak relief, A Gothic carved and painted oak relief, late 15th or early 16th century, Flemish, probably originally part of an altarpiece, depicting two saints beneath pierced tracery, with traces of polychrome decoration, 39cm wide 11cm deep 66.5cm high Condition Report: General knocks, damage, loss and wear throughout commensurate with age and use. Some chips, rubbing, wear and loss to painted detail. Dust, dirt and heavy patination. Screws securing the figures to the back panel appear later, and the backboard itself may be later. One small piece loose to the left-hand side. Overall appears in fairly good cosmetic and stable structural condition, with general wear commensurate with age and use. An old iron loop attached to the back to allow it to hang.
