Description
Chinese, Qing dynasty, circa 18th century. Of compressed round body, incised, gilt, and painted to the side with scrolling lotus between two rows of studded decorations. The cover featuring finely incised and gilded five-claw dragon encircling a flaming pearl above mountains and waves amongst clouds and flames. All against a red lacquer ground with interlocking swastika (wan zi jin). The base covered in black lacquer. The interiordivided in two registers by a large round tray, fitted on top with six shaped trays painted as peach and leaves. Dia. 41.7 cm (16 3/8 in.)
