Description
An antique Tibetan silk scroll known as Thangka, or Tanka, a Nyingma Buddhist tradition mixed media, gouache and gold and various pigments, painting on board. The tanka in this lot depicts Samantabhadra Buddha with Consort. Samantabhadri is a dakini and female Buddha from the Vajrayana Buddhist tradition. She is the consort and female counterpart of Samantabhadra, known amongst some Tibetan Buddhists as the Primordial Buddha. Samantabhadri herself is known as the 'primordial Mother Buddha. Framed. Circa: late 19th century. Collectible Asian and Oriental Buddhist Religious Art.
