Description: Incredible local find disc measures approximately 15.5 by approximately .75 inches thick float mounted between glass panels in a x x x inch gilt frame. This has a gorgeous hand carved dragon stylized motif but there were no signatures observed. Huge Chinese 16 Inch White Jade With Papers Bi Disc Dragon Carved Framed

Here are the specifications

Materials: Jade with chinese certification papers specifying that it is indeed jade affixed to the frame verso. The variety such as jadeite or nephrite is not identified in English on the Chinese papers, however a refractive index is listed as 1.58 which corresponds closely to nephrite jade rather than jadeite jade which is slightly harder. The color variety in the white range is identified as soft which is whiter than Muttonfat. The disc is not able to be examined outside of the framing however we approximate the weight at several ounces.

Circa Date: Unknown

Condition of piece: Important note: The disc appears to be mounted on one side with an epoxy. This will have to be removed by the buyer after shipping because the epoxy is bonded to both the glass and the disc we will not attempt to remove the disc from the frame. Buyer therefore assumes all risk of frame removal.

Frame and matting condition: The frame exhibits some paint scuffs that are photographed as well as some minor scuffs, all in all this piece is ready to hang and the canvas matting is in neat condition.

Provenance: Florida Gulf Coast waterfront retirement residence of a prominent interior designer who has purchased many items personally from China, she said this was one of the finest pieces of jade she has ever handled and kept it for her own collection.
