DESCRIPTION: John Albert eight day shelf clock. Eight day miniaturized tall clock movement with repeating strike. Painted wood dial with Arabic numerals painted in Philadelphia by William Jones. Pennsylvania pillar and scroll case of mahogany and mahogany veneer with pine dividers. Replaced tablet painted by Lee Davis, York PA circa 2005.John Albert and his brother Albert Albert (thought to be the cabinetmaker) produced upwards of 100 tall clocks in Tyrone Township, Perry County during the 1820s and 1830s. Only half a dozen of their shelf clocks are known. With 2008 appraisal by Edward LaFond, Jr. MEASUREMENTS: 46" high x 17" wide x 8-3/4" deep. CONDITION: Cleaned and waxed by Mr. LaFond. Very good condition. Runs and chimes. One of the scrolls is replaced. MH. IMPORTANT: Before bidding, please read the terms and conditions.
