Description
A Sino-Tibetan Bronze Seated Statue of Padmasambhava on Base. Cast as a seated Padmasambhava in the Dhyanasana position on a lush lotus base with a beaded rim, holding a vajra and kapala in his hands and wearing thick robes patterned with a ruyi motif at the collar. His crown is topped with a half-vajra instead of his signature raven-feather cap, with an engraved mark on the bottom. {Height approximately 8 3/4 inches (22.2 cm) without base}. Condition: Wear, losses. Notes: Padmasambhava (literally ‘lotus-born’ in Sanskrit) is considered one of the principal early teachers to have brought Buddhism to Tibet in the eighth century.
