HEIGHT INCLUDING FRAME.The LeRoy Neiman painting Wine, Women, and Cigars (self-portrait) was commissioned in 1996 by the COO of a major cigar manufacturer. It was designed and created by the artist to be reduced to scale and reproduced on the vista of a special cigar box, which would become the LeRoy Neiman Selection of the Playboy cigar brand. LeRoy Neiman had a long-standing close relationship with Playboy and its founder, Hugh Hefner, that began when they met in 1954. The Playboy LeRoy Neiman Selection cigar and its mahogany box were handmade in the Dominican Republic at one of the manufacturer's factories. The unique cigar creation was launched at a press event at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles, and then in the Soho neighborhood of New York City, where one of the boxes was signed by Neiman and presented to the famous actor/comedian Milton Berle. The painting has been in the possession of the cigar executive who commissioned it, after he purchased it from his company.
