A.L.S., W Hoste, one page, 4to, HMS Amphion, off Pescara (Italy), 27th July 1811, to Captain Stevens. Hoste enquires 'Will you have the goodness to enquire after a great coat (a coachman's coat) of mine I left at the Admiral's office the morning I came away - and will you bring it for me or send it in first ship that comes', further adding 'There is a ship in sight, a Man of War from the Eastward that looks heating up to Malta - most likely one of yr. Squadron'. With integral address leaf in Hoste's hand and addressed to Stevens on board HMS Imogene. Small area of paper loss to the integral leaf and a tear to the left edge of the first page (neatly repaired to the verso), the latter only very slightly affecting the text and both the result of the original seal having been broken.
