AN ENGLISH BLOWN GLASS BRANDY DISPENSER, BY L. LUMLEY & CO., LONDON, CIRCA 1900, with a flat rimmed short circular neck on an ovoid body and front centering gilt "BRANDY," above a brass spigot stamped "L. LUMLEY & Co / LONDON," raised on a separate socle and surmounted by a conforming flat topped bombé lid. Height: 23" Diameter: 9" Depth: 12" Note: An 1884 L. Lumley & Co illustrated catalogue with price list describes the company as packing case makers for the bottling trades, wire manufacturers, importers of metallic capsules, cork merchants, engineers to the wine, spirits, beer, and mineral water trades. They had various departments, manufacturers, mills, and showrooms spread around America Square, Minories, and Bow Common Lane in London. Provenance: Private Collection, Houston, Texas
Condition
Normal small scratches, a few tiny surface flea bites, and brass spigot is tarnished.
