Description
Pair of Louis XVI style giltwood fauteils or armchairs. Late 19th/ early 20th century. Fauteil form, reeded colonnade legs, floral needlepoint upholstery. Chair backs, seats and arm pads were covered in vinyl, vinyl is torn on seats of both chairs and left arm pad of one. Hole and stain in upholstery of left arm pad. Staining and wear to exposed upholstery. Fraying and loss to fringed edge of one chair. Losses and chips to gilt and gesso throughout chairs, especially prominent along feet and circular edge of back. Splitting to wood in both chairs on arms and edge of back. Scratches to wood on left arm of one chair. Scratches and marks to wood throughout legs and feet of both chairs. Scratches to wood on both chair backs.
