Fine Victorian Cased Sterling Silver and Mother-of-Pearl Fish Set

hallmarked London, 1882-1883, by Edward Gilbert, with twelve fish forks and twelve fish knives, each with a spatulate mother-of-pearl handle, the scimitar-shaped blades engraved with fish, rod, net and basket on a riverbank, presented in the original fitted, indigo velvet-lined Circassian walnut case with lift-out tray.

**In excellent condition. No breaks, chips, loose handles, dents or repairs. Crisp, beautiful engraving (including variant "aesthetic" and fish patterns on the ferrules). Case very good with some light scuffs but no losses to the veneer; lining worn in spots but no tears or losses. A superlative, highly desirable set.
