Following the fall of Strasburg in 1870 during the Franco-Prussian War, there was a sudden increase in British curiosity and interest in the war in mainland Europe with special interest given to the French armies in Paris. The Daily News published a collection of letters, correspondence, war reactions, and first-hand accounts of the Franco-Prussian War, published in 1871. This fine, two-volume set was published in London – beautifully bound with marbled boards and decorative leather.
