Description
1868 1ed Life of Ulysses S Grant American Civil War United States President
“The art of war is simple enough. Find out where your enemy is. Get at him as soon as you can. Strike him as hard as you can, and keep moving on.”
– Ulysses S. Grant
A rare, post-Civil War history of the life and military campaigns of General Ulysses S. Grant. According to Larned on Charles Danas Life of Ulysses S Grant,
“Written as a Campaign life in the presidential election year, this was still a book of more than passing value. Mr. Dana had represented the War Department at Grants headquarters in most of his campaigns from Vicksburg to Richmond inclusive. General Wilson had been much of the time on his staff. Personal acquaintance, unusual opportunity, intimate knowledge of affairs, and literary ability were all united to make the book.
