Notes: Serrano was born Jose Luis Ramirez Garcia on March 20th, 1947 in Guadalajara, Jalisco. Serrano studied art at the prestigious "La Esmeralda" Academy in Mexico City from 1963 until 1968. Since 1970, he's showcased his work in numerous solo exhibitions in Mexico City, Michoacan, Guadalajara, La Paz, Oaxaca, Cancun, and Monterrey in Mexico as well as Tucson, AZ and San Francisco, CA in the United States and Vancouver, BC in Canada. He developed a print technique that he calls Silicografia that gives his work layers of texture along with colors. Between 1975 and 1976 he became a professor at his alma mater, La Esmeralda Academy.
