A Federal inlaid tiger maple or satinwood tea caddy circa 1800
(H: 6 in. W: 12 in. D: 6 in.)
The lid top inlaid with central roundel with oak leaf and acorn motif, flanked by navette reserves with urn and lily of the valley motif; the lid interior inlaid with patriotic eagle with American shield; the interior with two tea cannisters flanking a cup holder, the cannisters with lift-top lids inlaid with coordinating motifs to exterior.

A Vermont collector.
Condition
Replaced hinges; some wear to opening edge; cannister lids slightly bowed; mixing cup not original, veneer mends to lid and case; emblazoned eagle to inside cover has slightly different green background and slightly different shading technique than other paterae ; appears to have veneer mends to inlaid stripes of shield;
