A Chippendale figured mahogany dressing table Philadelphia, PA, circa 1765
(H: 30 1/2 in. W: 34 1/2 in. D. 21 in.)
Molded rectangular top, one long drawer over three short drawers, shaped apron, cabriole legs on ball-and-claw feet, painted inscriptions on verso: "JRS," "W ...Garret." and a paper label bearing the inscription, "Mrs. George Mott/14 Sutton Place South/ New York," appears to retain original brass hardware.

Provenance
According to family tradition the dressing table descended in the family of James Mott of 'Hickory Grove' in Burlington, New Jersey to Richard Field Mott (1778) to Richard Mott (1861) to George M. Mott (1911).

nice surface overall; circular patches to top; top with minor age cracks along sides; two restored knee returns; a couple repaired breaks to front facing knee returns; minor age splits to side panels; Secondary woods cedar and tulip poplar; a patch to left-facing top corner of top-most drawer face; a few other minor repairs and small losses to lips / corners of drawer faces; brasses appear to be original
