Description
Significant Crawford County Georgia potter marks "JCA" John C. Avera (1834-1900) One Gallon Jug, one of the most important Crawford Co. jugs to turn up in many years, this early pre civil war signed JCA one gallon jug has a strong feildspathic glaze that just is amazing with also some great iron burst runs on the jug as well. The jug is stamped and is kind of weak but very easily able to be made out of the JCA stamp. This is second example I have ever saw, and is the best condition I've ever seen. You will not find a better example and one of the most important marks from Crawford County around. Condition is outstanding with a small glaze flake on the top of the lip and has No cracks or repairs and truly a museum quality example. Fresh to the market and standing 10 3/4" Tall
