Two Uncut Cotton Ceremonial Textiles, Indonesia, Early-Mid 20th C. Two textiles generally known as "gedogan" or "wangsul" used in life transition ceremonies in Indonesia. Such fabrics embody the values of purity, cyclicality and cosmological dualism and balance. Provenance: Ex. Seth Hersh/Batikat Collection. Sizes: 1) 9'' x 22'' (23 x 56 cm), 2) 17'' x 24'' (43 x 61 cm) (uncut).
