Description
6th-4th century B.C. A core-formed polychrome opaque glass kohl bottle, composed of a tapering, square-section body, slightly convex base, rounded neck, rolled rim and a raised knop at each shoulder; a brown-black body decorated with a white feather pattern between bands of yellow and white, with alternating yellow, white and brown ropework design to the rim; accompanied by a custom-made display stand. 20.2 grams total, 72 mm high (30.8 grams total, 86 mm high including stand) (2 7/8 in. (3 3/8 in.). From a royal Middle Eastern collection, acquired in the 1990s. Old collection label 12891YC, and 8512 and 12891YC to the stand. This lot has been checked against the Interpol Database of stolen works of art and is accompanied by search certificate no.11354-192127. [No Reserve]
