24 x 36 1/4 in. printed broadside (soil, old creases, loss with repair); framed to 33 1/2 x 43 1/2 in. (not examined out of frame).

A large Civil War-era illustrated advertising broadside touting "staple & fancy dry goods." Featuring a large cartoon of the proprietor M.J. Maher alongside the allegorical figures of "Good Times" who claims to "follow where ever Maher goes", and "Hard Times." Maher is seen booting Hard Times and claiming, "I am determined there shall be no more hard times in Washington, as far as Dry Goods is concerned. Get out of the way you imp of darkness, and let the people come and buy all they want."
