Description
A personally owned brass ashtray by ?The Outlaw? and legendary country music artist Waylon Jennings. Jennings, who once attributed 6 packs of cigarettes a day to his smoking habit credits his wife Jessie with helping him quit in 1988. The brass ashtray is accompanied by a COA. The music rebel and country music legend popularized the more rock-influenced success of country music. Jenning?s ?The Outlaw? reputation attributed to his raucous lifestyle which, at times, was overshadowed by his well documented addictions. Before Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson started the ?outlaw? country music movement, much of country music was controlled by record labels and producers. It was Jennings who helped influence a more youth based rock-country based audience which led to his success as an artist. Jennings? epitomized the outlaw movement with his 1974 album ?This Time? ? produced by Waylon and his friend Willie Nelson. Jennings was noted as stating ?For us, outlaw meant standing for your rights, your own way of doing things. It felt like different music, and outlaw was as good a description as any.? Jennings died in 2002 and is the recipient of numerous awards including the Grammy Award, ACM Awards and CMA Awards. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame (2001), a year before his death.
