Description
Faron Young was known as a honky-tonk singer who became a pillar in Nashville country music. He was originally known as "The Hillbilly Heartthrob" and the "Singing Sheriff" and had one of the longest running and most popular careers in country music history. Emerging in the early 1950s he went on to have a string of Top Ten hits including "If You Ain't Lovin," "Live Fast, Love Hard, Die Young," "Sweet Dreams," "Alone with You" and "Country Girl." In the 1960s Young focused more on country pop music and became a staple at the Grand Ole Opry. He appeared on various television shows including "Nashville Now" and also founded a major country music magazine, Music City News. He worked with songwriters Don Gibson, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson to name a few and helped many careers. He later continued to perform at concerts, maintain his business interests and acted. Later in life he was stricken with emphysema which was debilitating for him. Depressed by his poor health, Faron Young took his own life by a self-inflicted gunshot wound on December 9, 1996. He remains one of the groundbreaking vocalists of the 1950s and one of the finest honky-tonkers of his time. This lot contains two pairs of personally owned cufflinks and three tie pins. The collection is accompanied by a signed COA.
