Marilyn Monroe's Personally Owned Black Glass Bead Double Strand Necklace From The Sydney Guilaroff Collection W/Notarized Letter of Provenance - This lovely black and clear glass bead necklace was personally owned by Marilyn Monroe. The necklace has a double strand design at the lower half and is decorated with black and clear beads of varying sizes and shapes. The necklace comes with a notarized letter of provenance from Marilyn Monroe's personal hairstylist Sydney Guilaroff, which states in part, "This 1960s double strand unique multi-shaped black and clear glass bead necklace was given to me by Marilyn herself, to add to my movie star client personal item collection. Marilyn didn't want the necklace anymore after having worn it and the clasp kept coming undone. I had it re-clasped for her but I never had a chance to give it back to her because of her sudden passing in 1962." Sydney Guilaroff was a hair stylist during Hollywood's Golden Age who was the first to receive on-screen credit in films. He worked for more than forty years at the Metro Goldwyn Mayer studios on more than a thousand films, and was instrumental in crafting many of the hairstyles which became the signature looks for numerous film stars. Guilaroff was a friend, stylist, and confidante to many Golden Age stars including Greta Garbo, Joan Crawford, and Audrey Hepburn along with Marilyn Monroe, and styled Marilyn's hair for her funeral in 1962. According to our seller, this item was acquired in person from Guilaroff years ago by an avid collector who has since passed and whose mother is now liquidating the collection.
