Description
RAIMON ROSA (Alicante, 1980).
"Mukubal", 2022.
Oil on canvas.
Signed and dated in the lower right corner.
Measurements: 80 x 80 cm.
The artist Raimon Rosa studied Fine Arts at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, although his beginnings were in the area of Graphic Design, but without leaving painting aside. During his career, he has been perfecting the portrait theme, a genre in which he immerses himself comfortably and uniquely. His characters range from historical figures such as Picasso to anonymous people such as this Angolan woman belonging to the Mucubal tribe, the most important group in Angola and characterised by their semi-nomadic lifestyle. The Mucubal are historically recognised as originating in Kenya and are related to the Massai. The woman depicted is wearing a large traditional headdress called an ompota, which is made of a wicker structure and covered with cloth.
She has successfully participated in some painting competitions organised by private entities such as the Colegio Mayor Ausias March, in Valencia, and has obtained different recognitions.
