Description
Ca. 200-300 AD.An iron pugio, or squat triangular dagger with a pyramidal blade, a narrow, flat guard, and a handle with a double-lobed pommel. The pugio was a sidearm used by Roman soldiers as well as by civilians such as senators or other prominent citizens for self-defense. The weapon is best suited for short, stabbing motions, which would have deadly effects.
