Claude Michel Clodion was a French sculptor in the Rococo style, especially noted for his works in terracotta. Clodion specialized in small scale works which depicted nymphs, satyrs, bacchantes and other classical figures. Drawing primarily from pagan antiquity, his sculptures epitomized the Rococo style. Clodion’s works are in the permanent collections of major museums world-wide including the Metropolitan Museum of Art (NY), Louvre (Paris), Getty Museum (Los Angeles), Courtauld Institute of Art (London), Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen (Rotterdam), and Nationalmuseum, Stockholm.
