Catalog to accompany Contemporary Black Artists, originally titled 30 Black Artists, an early and large survey of important artists which traveled from MIA in 1968 to High Museum of Art; Flint Institute of Arts; Everson Museum of Art; and the San Francisco Museum of Art. Stapled booklet in printed paper wrappers; this example is the republished iteration under its new name in 1969 following the end of the show.

Also included is a stapled press release from the Community Gallery at Brooklyn Museum from 1970, with the headline [BLACK DIRECTOR, FIRST AMERICAN TO BE SO HONORED, TO HEAD GENEVA MUSEUM'S FIRST EUROPEAN EXHIBITION BY AFRO-AMERICANS]. Said show was organized under the direction of Henri Ghent, the director of the Community Gallery at Brooklyn Museum, for the Rath Museum in Geneva, and was to be [the first exhibition of works by Afro-American artists ever to be shown in a major European museum...].

Artists in the exhibition included Emma Amos, Benny Andrews, Romare Bearden, Betty Blayton, Peter Bradley, George Carter, Floyd Coleman, Emilio Cruz, Avel Deknight, James Denmark, Reginald Gammon, Sam Gilliam, Robert Gordon, Marvin Harden, Felrath Hines, Alvin C. Hollingsworth, Richard Hunt, Cliff Jospeh, Jacob Lawrence, Hughie Lee-Smith, Norman Lewis, Tom Lloyd, Richard Mayhew, Earl Miller, Robert Reid, Mahler Ryder, Betye Saar, Raymond Saunders, Thomas Sills, Russ Thompson, Lloyd Toone, Jack White, and Ed Wilson.
